"Puff the Magic Dragon" is a song written by Peter Yarrow in 1959. It was first performed by his group Peter Paul and Mary in 1962 and released on record in the following year. The song is about a loss of childhood innocence, although (mostly unsustained) speculations about its various hidden meanings continue.
