After five years as the Agile Embedded Podcast, we're making a change. Jeff and Luca announce the rebrand to Pragmatic Embedded Podcast - a name that better reflects where the show has been heading all along.
Jeff admits he's been cringing at the word "agile" for a while now, and with good reason. The podcast has already moved beyond purely agile topics, covering everything from the QP framework to AI-assisted development. Rather than feeling constrained by the old name, we're embracing what we've always been about: pragmatic techniques for embedded development that actually work.
We also dig into the reality of AI adoption in embedded systems. While Jeff uses AI heavily in his daily work, Luca's observations from training sessions and conferences reveal a different picture - most developers are still experimenting, not fully integrated. At the Magdeburger Dev Days conference, Luca asked a room of 150-200 developers about AI usage: almost everyone raised their hands, but only about 10% use it as a centerpiece of their workflow. Jeff shares his vision of developers becoming like lead developers, responsible for code quality rather than writing every curly brace. The tools are changing, but good engineering fundamentals matter more than ever.
Same episode, same hosts, same focus on valuable content for embedded developers - just a better name for it.
