Explosive testimony unfolded in the Senzo Meyiwa murder trial as defence advocate Zandile Mshololo led the evidence of General Leshabane before the Pretoria High Court. General Leshabane appeared as a defence witness and detailed how he allegedly received information from Constable Sizwe Zungu regarding the murder of former Bafana Bafana captain Senzo Meyiwa. During testimony, Leshabane: confirmed making an October 2023 statement, explained why he was allegedly never called by the state, described meetings involving senior SAPS officials, and insisted that Zungu never told him he was physically present at Basotho Hostel on the night of the murder. According to Leshabane, Zungu allegedly told him that the deeper information came from an individual identified as Gwabeni.
