No Way Through Toonumbar! | Fallen Trees, Dead Ends & Locked Gates | Day 3 Pt 1

Day 3 of our three-day adventure starts in Casino — but unfortunately, we’re down to three riders. After Paul’s encounter with a cow the day before, his Husky TR650 is out of action, leaving him behind in Casino waiting for a tow truck while Dale, Pete and I continue the journey north. Our plan is to make our way through Toonumbar National Park, but as we soon discover, things don’t quite go to plan. Wet tracks, fallen trees, dead ends and locked gates have us searching for a way through before eventually we have to admit defeat, turn around and find another way. But that’s adventure riding — sometimes the route that goes nowhere ends up being the most memorable part of the ride. We eventually make our way into Kyogle and pull up at the Commercial Hotel for a well-earned lunch. And that’s where we’ll leave Part 1. Coming up in Part 2: the adventure continues as we make our way home, with creek crossings, a climb over the Border Ranges and some spectacular views waiting for us on the other side.
