From Attending to Participating: What Makes a Church Healthy?
What if the real measure of a healthy church isn’t how many people gather on Sunday—but what kind of disciples are being formed and released into the world on Monday?
In Acts 11, something remarkable took root in Antioch. Ordinary people talked about Jesus. Leaders recognized where God was at work. New believers were formed as apprentices of Jesus. And when a need emerged, those disciples didn't simply notice it—they responded.
In this episode, we explore the movement from ministry recipients to ministry participants and ask what it looks like for the Holy Spirit to form apprentices of Jesus who serve beyond themselves. Whether you're just beginning to follow Jesus or you've been walking with Him for years, Acts 11 challenges us to consider whether what we're learning about Jesus is actually shaping how we live, what we notice, and how we participate in His mission.
Before or after listening, read Acts 11:19–30 (NIV). Then spend some time reflecting on these five foundational Bible study questions:
1.
What does this passage say about God — His character, His actions, or His desires?
2.
What does this passage reveal about humanity — our condition, our calling, or our struggles?
3.
What does this passage say that I need to believe, obey, or turn away from?
4.
Is there a promise, warning, or example I need to hold on to or learn from?
5.
Who can I talk with or pray for in light of what I’ve learned today?
