Video Explore of a local disused railway tunnel Near Cadeby Quarry. Opened around 1894, 164yards long single-track line & closed to passengers 1903, closed completely in 1964. The Line connected to the mainline near Conisbrough Railway Station, served the Denaby Colliery, through Cadeby Quarry & ran on through Sprotbrough (station still there),west of Cusworth Hall & joined the Barnsley & Hull Railway past South Elmsall at Wrangbrook Junction.
Also it is said to be haunted- A young girl (know as the Mexborough Ragger) is said to have been walking through the tunnel taking water to the quarry when a train hit her. There is an archway in the tunnel wall, which you can sit in, then you say her name 3 times and she reappears walking through the tunnel (I didn't try :P )
