I tried ArtCraft's free, open-source Adobe clones to see if any of them are actually usable. I tested six of the seven apps, and almost all of them are still marked "In development" or "Early alpha" on their site. I opened real files and tried real tasks in each one: retouching photos, raw files, masks, vector shapes, motion graphics and page layout. Here's how it went. 🔗 ArtCraft apps: https://getartcraft.com/apps APPS I TESTED PhotoCraft (Photoshop-style image editor) LightCraft (Lightroom-style photo library and raw developer) VectorCraft (Illustrator-style vector illustration) FilmCraft (Premiere-style video editor) EffectCraft (After Effects-style motion graphics) DesignCraft (InDesign-style page layout) I didn't test PdfCraft in this video. 0:00 Testing the free open-source Adobe clones 0:34 PhotoCraft (Photoshop): first impressions 1:27 Spot healing and healing brush tests 3:17 Selections, masks and quick mask quirks 4:40 Opening RAW files (CR3 won't open) 6:06 Making a thumbnail: bevel, stroke, gradients, smart objects 7:24 LightCraft (Lightroom): presets and color rendering 9:04 LightCraft: masking and brush problems 10:44 LightCraft: grain, cropping and versions 12:24 VectorCraft (Illustrator): shapes, pen tool, text on a path 14:52 FilmCraft (Premiere): timeline and transition problems 15:49 EffectCraft (After Effects): keyframes and text animators 18:16 DesignCraft (InDesign): columns and the paste bug 19:47 Final verdict: are they usable? QUICK TAKEAWAYS They're fast and surprisingly close to the originals, but bugs and missing features show up quickly. Masks, raw file support and some basic interactions need work. VectorCraft felt like the most polished of the group, and EffectCraft handled basic animation. For serious work today? Not yet. A note: I edit in DaVinci Resolve and I'm not a Premiere Pro expert, so my take on FilmCraft is from that point of view. These apps are also early and changing quickly, so things may have improved since I recorded this. #Adobe #ArtCraft #OpenSource #AdobeAlternative #photoshop - Download the FREE Lightroom presets here: https://dariolizarraga.studio/level-i...
