I’m Still in Here
A Song About the Sensitive Soul Beneath the Storm
“I’m Still in Here” is written from the imagined inner voice of a child who struggles with overwhelming emotions. On the outside, people may see anger, yelling, harsh words, or things being thrown. On the inside, there may be confusion, fear, sensitivity, shame, and pain that the child does not know how to express.
The song does not minimize the seriousness of destructive behavior or the pain it can cause a family. Instead, it asks us to remember that the behavior is not the entirety of the child.
Beneath the storm is still a loving child.
A caring heart.
A sensitive soul.
A holy neshama struggling to be understood.
The central message is:
“Please don’t believe the anger is all that I am. I’m still in here.”
