Carn a’ Chlamain E-MTB: A Bucket-List Munro Ride into the Wild Cairngorms 🚵‍♂️🏔️

Finally ticked off a ride that has been high on my bucket list for a long time: Càrn a’ Chlamain, a Munro rising above the northern side of the magnificent Glen Tilt. We set out without too many expectations, but were massively rewarded. The weather was about as good as you could hope for on a big mountain day in the Scottish Highlands, with clear views across an incredible landscape of mountains, glens and seemingly endless wilderness. ☀️🏔️ For a Munro, Càrn a’ Chlamain makes for a surprisingly rideable E-MTB adventure. A decent track takes you high onto the mountain and, with some determination and electric assistance, much of the route towards the 963m summit can be ridden. There are some seriously steep sections though, and a few technical bike issues on the way up added an unexpected challenge to the day. Reaching the summit made it all worthwhile. From there, the adventure changes completely as the descent follows an old stalking track off the mountain and back down towards Glen Tilt. Fast in places, rough and technical in others, with that wonderful feeling of descending from a proper Highland summit into the glen far below. 🚵‍♂️💨 The remoteness is also a good reminder that rides like this deserve respect. Mechanical problems can quickly become much more serious when you're high in the mountains and a long way from help, so being prepared matters. The same goes for the descent. There is plenty of fun to be had, but in this terrain the consequences of getting it wrong can be significant. An incredible summer day, a proper mountain adventure, and another bucket-list ride finally completed. Càrn a’ Chlamain and Glen Tilt absolutely delivered. 🙌
