This beautiful later poem of Rabindranath Tagore inspired me to set it to music. Tagore won the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1913. He and Meher Baba maintained a powerful connection and Tagore was heard once to speak of Meher Baba’s Divinity. When I performed this piece in Meherabad, I was told a touching story by Mr Ramarao, a Meher Baba devotee in Kolkata. He met Tagore's secretary on the street and asked if Tagore had ever talked about Meher Baba. Tagore's secretary immediately replied, "Yes, Rabindranath Tagore told me that he was Tagore....but that Meher Baba was Thakur!" (Thakur is the title of nobility given to a chieftain/ also Lord Krishna)
