Prosecutors say the former “American Idol” contestant and pastor shot his wife, Ashley Flynn, while she slept and then staged the scene to look like a home invasion. In opening statements, they revealed disturbing messages they say Flynn sent to his longtime mistress, including messages about killing his wife, and told jurors the woman will take the stand. But the defense came out swinging, arguing investigators developed tunnel vision after discovering Flynn’s affair. His attorneys pointed to what they say is missing: no murder weapon recovered, no gunshot residue on Flynn, no fingerprints tying him to the shooting and no eyewitness.
