Godzilla Suite | Gemstone Duology (Soundtrack by Tsubasa Handa)

The Godzilla music from the Gemstone duology, Godzilla vs. Megalon (2023) and Godzilla vs. Gigan Rex (2022), features arrangements by Tsubasa Handa alongside stock music from several classic Godzilla composers. Handa newly arranged Riichiro Manabe’s “Invincible Megalon” and Akira Ifukube’s “Godzilla Appearance Theme” and “Godzilla’s Theme” for Godzilla vs. Megalon, giving the classic compositions a powerful modern stereo sound. The films also use existing music by Takayuki Hattori, Riichiro Manabe, Akira Ifukube, Reijirō Koroku, and Kōichi Sugiyama, with Beethoven’s Piano Sonata No. 14 (“Moonlight Sonata”) also appearing in Godzilla vs. Gigan Rex. The stock material gives the duology a musical connection to many different eras of the Godzilla series, while Handa’s arrangements help unify the newer footage with the classic sound.
