Although pets cannot stay here, it is a truly wonderful ryokan known for its exceptional cuisine. After departing from Shōgawa Onsen‑kyō Ōmaki Onsen in Nanto‑shi, Toyama, he enjoyed lunch at Toyama Habakari near Toyama Station — savoring Shiro‑ebi Tendon and Himi Udon — before heading straight to Yahiko Onsen. ♨ Yahiko Onsen Yahiko Onsen is a historic hot spring town surrounded by nature, located in Yahiko‑mura. It is also known as the monzen‑machi of Yahiko Jinja, giving the area a sacred atmosphere. The onsen is called “Kami no Yu”, as if you are bathing beside the gods — a place where your heart naturally relaxes. 🏨 Shiki no Yado Minoya The ryokan Minoya, founded in 1701, has over 300 years of history. The room for this stay was the Gensen Rotenburo‑tsuki Guestroom Floor SHISYOKA, a modern, fully renovated suite (renewed April 1, 2023) featuring a private open‑air bath with natural spring water. All four room types on this floor have unique designs, each equipped with Simmons beds, offering a luxurious and refined stay. 🍽 Dinner & Local Drinks Dinner featured the special “Yuki Kaiseki”, created to celebrate Minoya’s 320th anniversary. Served at Ryōtei Hanasandō, the dishes highlight seasonal ingredients prepared with exceptional care. For sightseeing, he visited Yahiko Jinja, located right in front of the ryokan, and enjoyed limited‑edition local sake available only in the onsen town. This time, he visited Sakaya Yayoi and Yahiko Brewing, enjoying Niigata sake, craft beer, and local wine. ⛩ Yahiko Jinja Yahiko Jinja is revered as Echigo Ichinomiya, with deep roots in local tradition. The enshrined deity is Ame no Kagoyama no Mikoto, who is said to have shaped the land of Echigo and is worshipped as a god of agriculture and fishing. The shrine grounds are wrapped in greenery, creating a peaceful atmosphere that feels like stepping into a myth. Walking the approach road brings a sense of calm and clarity. 🍣 Final Stop The journey concluded at Benkei no Nakidokoro – Sado Sushi Benkei near Niigata Station.
