What makes a database relational? In this lesson, we explore the relational model—the foundation behind relational databases and SQL. You will learn how databases organize information into tables, connect related data, maintain accuracy, and allow us to retrieve or modify information using SQL. We will examine the three main components of the relational model: • Structure—organizing data into tables, rows, columns, and relationships • Integrity—keeping data accurate and consistent through entity and referential integrity • Manipulation—using SQL to retrieve, add, update, and delete data Using a school database, we will see how Students, Courses, Instructors, and Enrollments can be stored in separate but connected tables. We will also look at primary keys, foreign keys, relational algebra, and how a database management system translates an SQL statement into the operations needed to produce a result. By the end of the video, you should have a clearer understanding of how relational databases represent real-world information—and why structure, integrity, and manipulation all matter. This video is part of our introductory SQL and relational database series. #SQL #RelationalDatabase #DatabaseDesign #MySQL #LearnSQL #DatabaseManagement #RelationalModel
