AI is my studio band — and I know that's going to ruffle some feathers. In this episode of Inside the Biz, I take an honest look at how I use AI in music production: what it makes possible for me as a songwriter, where it works remarkably well, and where it can be incredibly frustrating. I write my own songs, but I'm not the singer or multi-instrumentalist needed to turn those songs into finished recordings. AI gives me access to something I otherwise couldn't realistically afford for every song I write — a virtual studio band. But that doesn't mean AI does everything. And it certainly doesn't mean I'd choose AI over talented human musicians if I had a studio band at my disposal. We'll look at creative control, songwriting, production decisions, experimentation, cost and one of the biggest questions surrounding AI-generated music: How much did the human actually contribute, and how much was left for AI to decide?
