In today's episode of The Daily Brief, we cover a story and a chart for the day shaping Indian and global markets: 1. The split personalities of Indian FMCG India’s FMCG companies are seeing growth return, but the picture is uneven. Rural demand is recovering, helped partly by lower inflation and higher MSPs, while urban growth is being driven by premium products and quick commerce. As companies balance volume growth, price hikes and rising input costs, the big question is whether this FMCG comeback can last. 2. Why are India’s NPAs so low? India’s net NPA ratio has fallen to a historic low of 0.4%, down sharply from 6% in 2018. The improvement comes from heavier provisioning, fewer fresh bad loans, recoveries and write-offs, along with a rapidly expanding loan book. But with stress emerging in parts of retail lending and microfinance, the credit cycle may not be over yet.
