We begin at David Kordansky Gallery with Mary Weatherford: The Surrealist, where painting becomes a sensory event—color, light, and scale collide in works that feel like emotional presences. With neon, poured pigment, and mythic references, Weatherford creates an atmosphere that’s uncanny, open, and searching. Next, at Simchowitz Gallery, Gene A’Hern: Charged Memory explores the Australian landscape through textured, atmospheric paintings drawn from memory. His process is intuitive and physical, capturing not just how a place looks, but how it feels. At Vielmetter in DTLA, Whitney Bedford: Sunsetting reinterprets moonlight and sunset paintings to reflect moments of personal and collective transformation. Painted during the California wildfires, her layered works hold beauty, anxiety, and a sense of unresolved change. And at Night Gallery, Hasani Sahlehe: Color Test uses abstraction and radiant color to explore freedom and perception.
