Bring your Geiger counter, because today we are unearthing some high-level waste to remove from its location and take it to another location, as there are still no permanent placements for this type of waste in the US. High-level waste is often placed in water or dry casks and held for decades. The best way to store High-level waste is deep underground in granite. This quarry is a more suitable location than the historical burial site it is at. Now that the mining operations have ceased, the plan is to store more High-level waste in this area.
