Brabham BT21engine rebuild part1- Machining the pistons 4K

This is the first of the engine rebuild series of videos. The cylinder block was fitted with new liners and bored to match the new pistons. The pistons were sitting proud of the cylinder block and needed some careful machining to remove 160 thou from the crown. Not something I had done before so with lots of careful measuring and taking my time to set up the pistons in the lathe with trepidation I started removing metal. I’m pleased to say they machined very nicely and my I’m very pleased that once refitted in the block all 4 pistons crowns are flush to the face of the block. Next up is complete strip down and a thorough cleaning of all parts and oil ways.
