He gained attention through collaborations with artists like Makoto Kubota on "Kanasu Remixes," as well as activities with ODODOAFROBEAT and CHURASHIMA NAVIGATOR, earning high praise internationally. He made his major debut with the album "MYSTIC ISLANDS DUB," where he selected Okinawan traditional songs from the 16-disc LP-BOX "Okinawa Ongaku S?ran," released in 1965, and created DUB mixes. In this album, HARIKUYAMAKU combines rare Okinawan traditional song recordings from around 60 years ago with live performances by his own live dub band, Gintendan. He weaves these elements together with his unique and mystical psychedelic sound production, resulting in a truly exceptional musical experience. The album's liner notes are written by Hajime Oishi, who possesses a deep understanding of Japanese folk songs and tribal dance music from around the world. This album has a breadth that cannot be summed up in a single phrase, "a fusion of Okinawan folk music and dub. Some of the songs also attempt the ambient ideas that HARIKUYAMAKU has been working on in recent years, and some of them resonate with the styles of Nicola Cruz and Barrio Lindo who reinterpret South American folklore. How can the contemporary ear and senses reinterpret what lies at one's own feet and lead to new creations? This work is also the result of such an awareness of these issues.
