From Thailand to Michigan, my journey in surgery has been shaped by the patients who trusted me, the mentors who guided me, and the people who stood beside me. This video shares my story as I receive a Lifetime Achievement Award—a moment to reflect on the work, relationships, and experiences that have given my life purpose. As a plastic and reconstructive surgeon, I have dedicated my career to helping people rebuild after cancer, trauma, and the challenges of congenital differences. Every patient brings a different story. Every operation carries a responsibility that extends far beyond the operating room. Over 15 years at Beaumont and Corewell Health, I have had the privilege of working alongside dedicated colleagues, nurses, physician assistants, residents, and fellows. This recognition belongs to the many people whose skill and compassion made our work possible. To my patients: thank you for trusting me during some of the most vulnerable moments of your lives. To my family, mentors, and team: thank you for everything you have given to this journey. Today, as I build the next chapter through my independent practice and continue teaching the next generation of reconstructive surgeons, my commitment remains the same: care deeply, keep learning, and give each patient my best. There is still so much work I want to do. — Kongkrit Chaiyasate, MD, FACS Center of Aesthetic and Reconstructive Surgery Bloomfield Hills, Michigan #LifetimeAchievementAward #DrChaiyasate #ReconstructiveSurgery #PlasticSurgery
