The Killers is a 1946 American film noir directed by Robert Siodmak and based in part on the 1927 short story of the same name by Ernest Hemingway. After a mechanic known as the "Swede" is murdered by a pair of hitmen for seemingly no reason, an insurance investigator named James Reardon begins an investigation to figure out who the "Swede" really was and why he was killed.
