Real-time train cab ride through Norway.

Join me aboard Train 455 from Trondheim to Hommelvik on September 18, 2026, for a short evening journey along the Trønder Line in central Norway. It's late in the evening, darkness has settled over Trøndelag, and rain accompanies us along the railway. The wet tracks, reflections from station lights and passing signals create a very different atmosphere from the bright summer journeys normally featured on Railroading with JM. Leaving Trondheim Central Station, we travel east through the city's suburban railway stations, passing Lademoen, Lilleby, Leangen, Rotvoll and Ranheim before continuing along the Trondheim Fjord toward Vikhammer, Midtsandan and Hommelvik. Although this is a relatively short journey, the combination of darkness, rain and illuminated railway infrastructure makes it an interesting experience from the driver's perspective. The GoPro Hero 10 is mounted inside the driver's cab, capturing the normal sounds and atmosphere of railway operations throughout the journey.
