Smart grid plug-in EV Communication (SpEC) Controller: SAE DC Fast Charging

Argonne Engineer Jason Harper describes the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) combined charging system (CCS) codes and standards. Jason has implemented the CCS communication stack in the SpEC Controller for both electric vehicles and chargers. A demonstration of an SAE DC charging session is shown utilizing the SpEC controllers interfaced with an Aerovironment ABC-170 Power Processing System.
