To find out if your kidneys are healthy, doctors use some main tests: an eGFR blood test and a uACR urine test. Blood TestseGFR (Estimated Glomerular Filtration Rate): Measures how well your kidneys filter waste from your blood. A normal result is usually above 90. Serum Creatinine: Checks for a buildup of a waste product called creatinine that healthy kidneys should clear out. BUN (Blood Urea Nitrogen): Measures another waste product from protein breakdown to see how well your kidneys remove it.Urine Tests uACR (Urine Albumin-Creatinine Ratio): Checks if a protein called albumin is leaking into your pee, which is an early sign of damage.
