Callander & Stephens 1972.    / @djpomare   The [C] love between the two of us was [G] dying [G] And it [C] got so bad I knew I had to [G] leave [G] But [C] halfway down that [C7] highway [C7] When I [F] turned around I saw [F] My [C] little daughter [G] running after [C] me [F] Cry[G7]ing. [C] Daddy don't you walk so fast [C7] [F] Daddy don't you walk so fast [F] Daddy [C] slow down [G] some [G] Cause you're [F] making me run [C] Daddy don't you [G] walk so [C] fast. Now it [C] broke my heart to tell my little [G] daughter [G] That her [C] daddy had to run to catch a [G] train [G] She [C] had no way of [C7] knowing [C7] I was [F] leaving home for good [F] I [C] turned around and [G] there she was a[C]gain [C] And [F] she [G7] said. [Chorus] If [C] only for the sake of my sweet [G] daughter [G] I just [C] had to turn back home right there and [G] then [G] And [C] try to start a [C7] new life [C7] With the [F] mother of my child [F] I [C] couldn't bear to [G] hear those words a[C]gain. [C] And [F] she [G7] said. [Chorus x 2]
