SheBoss with Joanna White, Huntsville's Ultimate Cheerleader

This week on SheBoss, Megan sits down with Joanna White, a Huntsville native, community connector, and one of the city's biggest champions for the arts, innovation, and local culture. Joanna shares how growing up homeschooled in a creative, DIY family shaped her view of everyone as a potential artist and innovator. She walks through a career built on saying "yes" and learning on the go: teaching theater at a preschool, running lights for touring productions, and spending a decade at Arts Huntsville working on Panoply and Concerts in the Park. In this episode, we cover: Coordinating Mayor Tommy Battle's campaigns, including the 2020 shift from backyard neighborhood events to nightly Zoom calls Succession planning at Free to Teach and why every business and nonprofit should be thinking about "what happens if" Hatch Huntsville, the culinary workforce development program helping young adults build life and career skills (and yes, they cater!) Her work with the Apollo Coalition at MidCity, from the Generator tech accelerator partnership to the Huntsville and Nashville music exchange Plans for an innovation hub at MidCity, a home for Huntsville's dreamers and doers An honest look at where Huntsville still has room to grow, from housing to nightlife The story behind the Purple Cup district and why Joanna's dream job is "night mayor" Whether you're a native, a local, or new to the Rocket City, this conversation reminds you what makes Huntsville special and the work still ahead.
