The first factory robot, Unimate, started work at a General Motors plant in New Jersey in 1961. There are more than 4 million industrial robots working around the world today. Around 1900, about 4 in 10 American workers were farmers. Today it’s fewer than 2 in 100. Moravec’s paradox: things that are easy for humans (like folding laundry) are often hard for robots!
