AI has become a new political weapon in India — cheap, fast, and filthy. What once stayed in anonymous troll accounts is now appearing on official party handles. AI-generated images are being used not to debate policy, but to ridicule and defame opponents. The latest low is the way BJP state units circulated sexualised AI images targeting Sonia Gandhi — recycling an old smear, dressing it up as an “80s trend”, and pushing it through official platforms. This is not satire. This is character assassination by machine. A ruling party that speaks of Nari Shakti cannot claim dignity for women in speeches and then use AI to attack a woman leader’s body, origin and honour. Political rivalry is legitimate. Turning a woman’s image into a public insult is not. When official handles do it, the filth is no longer “fringe”. It is the party’s own language.
