Join me as I press on and go deeper into Part 2 of the Sermon/ Bible study on: “Systemic Theology.” Let me begin by establishing I will rely on Sola Scriptura, which means Scripture alone settles questions of doctrine and theology, not your denomination, not your understanding, thoughts or belief, not what your mom told you or your Pastor, the Scripture alone establishes doctrine and theology. There is no other source. I might also add God has not given anyone any revelation contrary to what is found in the Scriptures. Many try to suit interpretations of the Scripture to their own minds, to serve their own purposes or actions. However, God is the sole author of his law and word. Our response should be reverence of God, submission and meekness of spirit (meekness simply means to bow to him, as even Jesus did with the Father). This is why in 2013 when my wife and I founded Doulos Chapel we wanted to make a clear statement; We are God's servants his Doulos, a word mentioned dozens of times in the New Testament. We added Chapel to state its a house for his servants. Having established this let us move on to address folks that think they are doing good, but they are not doing it God's way. The perfect example is a man by the name of Uzzah. 2 Samuel 6:1-7 and 1 Chronicles 13:9-12. I remember when as a new believer when I read that God had struck him dead for trying to prevent the Ark from falling, I was shocked. I mean he was trying to do good! But as I grew in the word, I understood this. God had given instructions to Moses and Aaron about the moving the Ark of the Covenant. "After Aaron and his sons have finished covering the holy furnishings and all the holy articles, and when the camp is ready to move, the Kohathites are to come to do the carrying. But they must not touch the holy things or they will die. The Kohathites are to carry those things that are in the Tent of Meeting” (Numbers 4:15). This was God's law to preserve his holiness. He made it very clear it didn't matter the reason you touched the Ark unless you followed his instructions it violated God's law and was to result in death. Scripture today is the same. David, by being disobedient set up the circumstances that gor Uzzah killed. David knew the Levites of the family of Kohath alone were to carry the Ark, but he took men that were not Levites to carry it. Exodus 25:12-14; Numbers 7:9. David rebelled against God's word. You should know the Ark had been stored at Abinadab’s house 2 Samuel 6:3, who had two sons, Uzzah and Ahio, may well have become accustomed to its presence. I wonder at first: “Well Uzzah was just trying to save the Ark, until God revealed to me why do I think God needed Uzzah or me to help him? Did anyone need to help Jesus prevent the boat he was on from sinking? Matthew 8:24-27. Remember how Moses could not enter the promised land because he decided he needed to strike the rock, instead of doing what God commanded him to do? Numbers 20:7-12). In churches today, Pastors act as if they know more than good and change the Scriptures to say what God never intended, because of their worldliness. Without fear of God or reverence of course the result is tragic. Have your Bibles and concordance ready!
