From Captive to Captain: Your Life in a Pirate Crew

The pirates ask whether you can work. You say yes before the man holding the knife finishes the question. Tonight, you scrub their deck. One day, you might command it. Experience nine different positions aboard an Atlantic pirate ship around 1717—from a frightened captive to a captain whose reputation has become another danger. Discover what you eat, where you sleep, how you earn a share, and what could destroy your life at each level. You’ll work the rigging, repair a leaking hull, serve the guns, divide captured goods, and face the hardest decision a captain can make: walking away from a promising prize. A better share brings opportunity. A specialist’s job brings responsibility. Command brings influence—but none of them can order the ocean to cooperate. This animated historical documentary explores pirate life through immersive second-person storytelling, everyday details, and dark humor. HISTORICAL NOTE These are nine contrasting positions and circumstances, not nine universal ranks or guaranteed promotions. Pirate organization varied between crews. The scenes are fictional composites set in the Atlantic and Caribbean around 1717. Which position would you choose—and when would you leave the ship? #Pirates #PirateHistory #AnimatedHistory
