Every Single Regular Show Character Explained

Regular Show centers around Mordecai and Rigby, two twenty-something groundskeepers—a blue jay and a raccoon—who treat their jobs at a local park as an excuse to slack off, usually turning mundane chores into surreal, apocalyptic disasters. Their boss, a short-tempered gumball machine named Benson, constantly threatens to fire them while managing a bizarre cast of coworkers, including the naive lollipop man Pops, the crude but surprisingly sensitive Muscle Man, and his loyal partner Hi-Five Ghost. The park’s true anchor is Skips, an immortal yeti who quietly fixes the crew’s cosmic mistakes, carrying the grief of a centuries-old tragedy involving an ancient warlord. Beyond the chaos of the park, the series explores surprisingly grounded emotional arcs, from Mordecai’s complicated romantic history with Margaret and CJ, to Rigby’s gradual maturity and eventual marriage to the coffee shop worker Eileen. As the series progresses, the relatively low-stakes adventures give way to massive, universe-altering conflicts. Characters like the God of Basketball, the cybernetic Techmo, and the Grim Reaper himself frequently intervene in the crew’s daily lives, while hidden pasts are slowly uncovered—such as the revelation that the park’s naive intern Thomas was actually a Russian spy. The show's ultimate escalation arrives in the eighth and final season, when the cheerful Pops is revealed to be Mega-Kranus, a cosmic entity destined to battle his destructive twin brother, Anti-Pops. In a devastating and epic series finale, Pops sacrifices himself to break a 14-billion-year cycle of universal destruction, proving that a show built on absurd slacker comedy could deliver one of the most emotionally resonant conclusions in modern animation.
