Rethinking Security in Europe #1 | The Militarisation of Security in Europe

First session of the webinar series 'Rethinking Security in Europe', co-organised by ICIP and CIDOB. This opening conversation explores the growing militarisation of security in Europe in a context marked by the war in Ukraine, the genocide in Gaza, rising military expenditure and the redefinition of international alliances. The session reflects on the tensions between security, democracy, human rights and peacebuilding, while questioning dominant approaches based on deterrence and military responses.
