Forging An Axe From A Ball Peen Hammer

Forging an Axe from a ball peen hammer. The first step in making a axe from a hammer is drifting out the hammer head for a larger handle. I managed to do this without a swage block using a home made drift. I wanted this axe to have a reinforced handle so I made a strap that goes over the head of the axe and attaches to the hickory handle This custom tomahawk was a 3 1/4 inch blade with a 4 inch spike.
