Everything I packed for my first-ever international carry-on only adventure! In case you're thinking of doing the same, these are a few things I learned: 1. I have a narrower "comfy temperature" range than I realized, and when I'm cold at home, I don't want tights and whatever packable layer I thought would work best; I want cozy fleecy bulky sweats. They take up a lot of space, but for me personally, I'd rather sacrifice an additional outfit or two than be without a thick hoodie. 2. Zip pockets on travel-day clothing come in clutch if you run out of room for small purchases and/or snacks. 3. If you plan to do some shopping, even (especially) if you have designated bag space ahead of time, periodically check in that everything will fit. 4. A beanie is a small, easily-packable item that makes a big difference in my comfort level on a freezing airplane. 5. Even if you are below the weight limit for your airline, you also need to be considerate of the weight limit for your body. If you unexpectedly have several hours to spend in a city, you will want to be comfortable while exploring. And to answer the unknowns I raised in this video: the swimsuit did get worn - twice! - for swimming in the sea, and sadly my Converse did not make it home. RIP Favorite Converse, you will be missed.
