Canon R5 C in 2026 — I Still Can’t Replace This Camera

Four years on, is the Canon EOS R5 C still worth buying in 2026? I bought the R5 C because I needed a camera I could rely on for real commercial work — something I could pull out of the bag, press record and know it was going to get the job done. Four years later, it’s still the camera I reach for when the job really matters. In this video, I’m not diving too deep into spec sheets. Instead, I’m looking at what the R5 C is actually like to own and use as a working photographer and filmmaker. I cover the image quality, Canon Cinema EOS menu, C-Log 3, autofocus, battery life, external power, CFexpress cards, the lack of IBIS, Super 35 crop mode, photo/video switching and how it compares with newer Canon cameras like the R6 Mark III. There are newer cameras with newer features, but the R5 C still has something that’s difficult to put on a spec sheet — reliability. I recently chose it to shoot a national campaign, and if you asked me tomorrow to go out and shoot another major commercial job, the R5 C would still be the camera I’d take. And with used prices now significantly lower than when it launched, I think the R5 C might actually make more sense today than it did four years ago.
