On April 16, 2019, three of the world’s best climbers — David Lama, Hansjörg Auer, and Jess Roskelley — reached the summit of Howse Peak in the Canadian Rockies. At 12:44 PM, they took a photo together. None of them would ever return home.
During the descent, an avalanche claimed their lives. Harsh mountain conditions prevented rescue teams from reaching them immediately.
David Lama was just 28 years old. He had made history on Cerro Torre and Lunag Ri, becoming one of the most influential figures in modern mountaineering.
In this documentary, we retrace his climbing career, the three climbers’ final ascent, and what happened on Howse Peak. The story is reconstructed through photographs, recovered cameras, and the investigation conducted by Jess Roskelley’s father.
