I discovered the Monkees in February of 1986 on the eve of my 13th birthday as I tuned into MTV for a 24hr marathon of their classic television series. I instantly fell in love…here was the comradery of the Beatles, the zaniness of Bugs Bunny, and the intellect of the Marx Brothers in one big wonderful package with the most gorgeous pop songs I had ever heard as the big red bow on top. That day changed my life forever and started a 35yr journey that continues to this day. There is no measure of thanks I can give for the happiness they have brought and continue to bring to my life. What I CAN give is this song, the first I have ever written or performed. Inspired by a lost love, and created with the help of my dear friend and master musician Gary Owen, this is the story of a lifelong love affair between a man and a woman but it is also the story of the Monkees, their fans, and the incredible road we’ve traveled and continue to travel together.
