Almost every rosemary that dies in a pot or a garden bed dies of the same thing, and it is not neglect or a bad thumb. It is a texture boundary in the soil: the gravel layer at the bottom of the pot, or the bag of fluffy compost used to backfill a hole in clay, both create a perched water table that holds water against the roots until they rot.
The video explains the physics in kitchen terms, shows how to read the misleading gray brittle symptoms, and then rebuilds both the pot and the in-ground planting from the bottom up with a uniform gritty mix, a high crown, and a raised mound.
