In this episode of The Class Business Podcast, Krissy Monaghan is joined by Lauren Weston, founder of Kidz4, a children's yoga and wellbeing business based in South West London. Lauren started Kidz4 alongside her career in education before using maternity leave as the moment to rethink what she wanted work and family life to look like. What began with just one or two schools has now grown into a business working across 15 school partnerships, with a team of six, franchise pilots, a licensing model and accredited teacher training. Lauren shares how her background as a Director of Sport and competitive triathlete has shaped the way she approaches business growth, from focusing on the right opportunities and making marginal gains to resisting the urge to constantly compare herself with everyone else. We talk about: • Lauren's background in education and sport • Why motherhood changed the way she thought about work • Building a business around greater flexibility • Growing from one or two schools to 15 partnerships • Why Lauren built a team early • Choosing a smaller, more consistent teaching team • Building school partnerships in a tight local radius • Scaling Kidz4 through franchising • Testing two franchise pilots in Buckinghamshire and East Surrey • Developing a licensing model for other children's activity providers • Creating a 40-hour accredited children's yoga teacher course • How Kidz4 helps children with confidence, resilience and emotional regulation • Using LinkedIn to reach school decision makers • Why Lauren networks outside the children's activity sector • Understanding local priorities through the Wandsworth business community • Competing internationally for Great Britain in triathlon • Applying an athlete mindset to entrepreneurship • Staying in your lane instead of constantly comparing • Using marginal gains and small improvements to build a stronger business 👉 Find out more about Kidz4: https://www.kidz4.com/about 👉 Connect with Lauren Weston on LinkedIn:   / laurenweston87   Lauren and Kidz4 are double finalists at The Class Business Awards 2026 for: Scaling Business of the Year High Performing Business of the Year Join us on Saturday 10 October 2026 at the National Conference Centre in Solihull for The Class Business Live, followed by The Class Business Awards & Afterparty. https://www.kristinemonaghan.online/o... #TheClassBusinessPodcast #TheClassBusinessAwards Suggested YouTube chapters 00:00 Meet Lauren Weston 01:00 How Kidz4 started 01:36 Why motherhood changed the plan 02:38 The thinking behind the Kidz4 programme 03:34 Wellbeing, confidence and academic impact 04:22 Growing the business during maternity leave 05:53 Building the teaching team 07:33 Why Lauren chose franchising 07:58 Launching the first two franchise pilots 08:26 Developing a licensing model 09:34 Accredited children's yoga teacher training 10:26 The impact Kidz4 is having on children 12:38 Why LinkedIn became a key growth platform 14:04 Reaching school decision makers 15:42 Networking outside the sector 18:51 Lauren's sporting background 20:43 From first triathlon to representing Great Britain 21:30 Competing internationally 22:15 Returning to sport after motherhood 23:49 What high-performance sport teaches about business 24:46 Staying in your lane and focusing on marginal gains 26:54 How to work with Kidz4
