Pahoehoe lava fills cracks, then drops 90 degrees down a sheer rock face that ends abruptly, forcing the lava to stretch and contort into a thin, flexible sheet. The sheet of lava is so thin that you can see the sharp edge of the rock beneath it, most dramatically at 0:34 - 0:40 and 1:12 - 1:24. Watch for the formation of Pele's Hair, as thin strands of the lava are cooled to volcanic glass. Learn more about CSAV at http://www.hilo.hawaii.edu/~csav/
