Fall Asleep To Every Time South Park Broke Its Own Rules

This video examines every rule South Park set for itself and every time the show broke those rules, from Kenny's death gag to Stan Marsh aging out of being nine years old. South Park built its identity on fixed rules: Kenny McCormick dies and nobody remembers, the four boys never age, each episode resets, and nothing carries forward. This video walks through those rules one by one and traces exactly where and why each one collapsed, sometimes on purpose, sometimes because real events forced the writers' hand. It covers the Isaac Hayes and Chef departure, the Cartman paternity reveal, Mr. Garrison's transformation into a sitting president, and the Stan Marsh birthday in "You're Getting Old" that the series later quietly undid. There is no ranking and no payoff building at the end, so it works as slow background listening. What's covered in this video: The Kenny death mechanic from "Cartman Gets an Anal Probe" in August 1997, where the joke arrived already off template because the death was caught on Stan's grandfather's home video camera. The early fourth wall cracks, from Stan's flat "Oh, hey, Kenny" in "Cartman's Mom Is Still a Dirty Slut" to Stuart and Carol McCormick counting to fifty two in "Cartman Joins NAMBLA." "Kenny Dies" in season five, where Trey Parker and Matt Stone said on DVD commentary they had grown bored of the gag and had spent a year considering killing Kyle instead, followed by Butters Stotch and Tweek rotating through the fourth boy slot until "Red Sleigh Down." The Mysterion retcon across "Coon Two: Hindsight," "Mysterion Rises," and "Coon vs. Coon and Friends," which explained Kenny's immortality through his parents' beer motivated Cthulhu cult. The unsettled death count, where outlets land on 128, 126, or higher depending on whether shorts, video games, and dream sequences count. Isaac Hayes leaving after "Trapped in the Closet," Comedy Central pulling the rerun, his son's account of the January 2006 stroke, and Chef's Super Adventure Club death and Darth Chef resurrection in "The Return of Chef." Mary Kay Bergman's death in November 1999 and the decision to split Liane Cartman, Sharon Marsh, and Wendy Testaburger among Eliza J. Schneider, Mona Marshall, and April Stewart. The twelve year Cartman paternity mystery, Dr. Alphonse Mephesto's candidate list including the 1991 Denver Broncos, and the "Two Oh One" reveal that reclassified "Scott Tenorman Must Die" as unintentional patricide. Mr. Garrison's arc from Mr. Hat to Janet Garrison to Donald Trump stand in and President, including the scrapped "The Very First Gentleman" episode replaced overnight by "Oh, Jeez." The abandoned "Deep Fake: The Movie" feature, killed one day before production by the COVID 19 shutdown, and the "Sassy Justice" short that absorbed its ideas. Stan turning ten in "You're Getting Old" versus his line in the season 28 Halloween special "The Woman in the Hat" that he is nine and living in a retirement home.
