HAMPTON HOUSE, THE TERRACE TIMARU. From 1924 too 2026, Hampton House stood proud up there on The Terrace, with magic views out to see and out over the mountains, but August 2026 was going too be the final month where the great ol house would be bathed in morning sunlight, as demolition crew moved in. Very reluctant demolition for the owners of the property, with previous owners not looking after the old place, it would have been far too costly to try and get on top of repairs but also over many years, good ol borer really loves the likes of Rimu timber and as you see, the walls, floors come crumbling down, you see that faint hint of borer dust. Although some would love to see it still there, Hampton House had reached its Best By Date and the great thing with the owners, they have dreams for the future at this property, that are dreams for themselves and people of Timaru, not like another abandoned property not far from The Terrace, that was a dream for none of us, but a ego trip i heard one person describe it. This took some big house to try stitch this together, hopefully looks ok, also bit over music in there, one song made especially for this occasion, thanks to great mate Daryl Shuttleworth Media who got it together with a bit of input from me, and also another song which very dam thankful for, dedicated too me, is a song called "Full Force" by great North Island band, Newzerror and the title quite fitting, as the power of hydraulics, full force needed to dismantle the old girl. The 2nd day of demolition starts around 16 min 40. After a very low week or so, and even worse from yesterday... heres hoping this tickle many peoples fancys, that lived and visited Hampton House. So kick back and flash back to grand ol memorys and huge hats off to Paul the Excavator driver, this was a well executed demolition, with property so dam close, and road on the other side, did an exceptional job to keep all rubble more or less in the boundaries of the property.
