I was not expecting to make this video. I tried reading this book over the summer, after hearing the Netflix adaptation was coming out, and I hated it. Despised it. It took me two months to slog through the first 40% and then, after complaining to two or three different people about it, I finally put it down and laid it to rest. Not for me, I decided. So then imagine my SHOCK AND SURPRISE when I watched the Netflix adaptation and I fucking LOVED IT!!! OH MY GOD!!! Visually stunning, well written, a stacked cast, generational trauma—it's got everything. Turns out the story is incredible and I just fucking hated John Steinbeck's rambly-ass writing and his treatment of women. I guess that last part shouldn't have surprised me considering this book's from the 1950s, but even so. 😅 Steinbeck fans please don't come for my throat. I'm aware that I'm in the minority. This video was also heavily inspired by my friend Ivi's recent IWTV video with this song (link above)! I don't listen to Noah Kahan much so I'd only heard this song in passing before watching that video, but then it got stuck in my head. And then I realized it kept reminding me of EoE. So then I was like............fuck I guess I gotta watch this show now. And a week later now we're here. I finished the show Thursday night, started this video Friday morning before work, blacked out, and emerged with this. Enjoy! --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Song:    • Noah Kahan - Willing and Able (Official Ly...   Show: East of Eden (2026) Edited with: Davinci Resolve
