First 50 Expert Holeshot 3/12/16 REM Glen Helen Arroyo Track Moto 2

My first legit Holeshot in the 50 Expert / Elite Class lined up with some bona fide holeshot artists and the last of the true Saddleback Specialists. The REM 50 Elite / Expert class is full of SoCal Vet Motocross Royalty. Other clubs do it now, but REM started it with the Elite category; they start on the same gate but are scored separately from the Experts cause there were so many ex National Pros that would always win, so they created the “Elite” class for guys like Jon O., Luther F., Willie S., Robert R., Bob W., Eddie D., Val T., Dave E., and my bro Ian Fitz-G (with probably the highest National finish of the bunch, a 13th OA at the last Saddleback National), among others. It seems I’ve seen them all take turns at dominating the field at one time or another. I've watched these guys race pro through their entire careers at all the Iconic So Cal tracks of the late 70’s and 80’s. Mostly watching my bro and them chasing CMC points after I broke my neck racing Amateur SX at Anaheim Stadium. Now I’m lining up next to them and my brother for the first time since 1983 – kinda surreal. None of us should be f_cking doing this, and we all know it!!
