We’re Racing Against Winter to Build Our Off-Grid Home! Winter is coming, and the pressure is officially ON. In this episode, we’re continuing the build of our off-grid home here in Northern Ontario, and this time we’re tackling one of the biggest and most challenging parts so far — the foundation. We’re building on bedrock, which has brought its own set of challenges, and I’m doing as much of the work myself as possible to keep our costs down. From milling our own lumber to working through the challenges of building on our land, every step is a learning experience. And while we're trying to make progress on the house, we’re also preparing for another Northern Ontario winter — gathering firewood and getting everything ready for the months ahead. Of course, not everything goes according to plan… including one mistake that leads to a pretty unexpected flood. So come along with us for another week of everyday off-grid life, building our home from the ground up, making mistakes, solving problems, and trying to get as much done as possible before winter arrives.
