Silver impregnation using methenamine silver

The reduction of silver salts from within solutions of methenamine silver provides an effective method for the demonstration of basement membranes and fungal hyphae. Nevertheless, different oxidising agents are required for optimal impregnation of each structure. In this video I provide a side-by-side comparison of the methods used to achieve satisfactory staining of basement membranes and fungal hyphae.
