Tell the time in Spanish! In this 72-minute beginner lesson, it's the morning of Leo's first day at his new job, his alarm clock is broken, and his neighbor Carmen knocks at the door. Learn ¿Qué hora es?, es la una and son las dos, y cuarto, y media and menos cuarto, how to say at what time (a las nueve), de la mañana or por la mañana, and the verb despertarse. Just listen and repeat. New here? Start with Lesson 1 – the course is one continuous story, and every lesson builds on the one before it. IN THIS LESSON • A 16-line conversation between Leo and Carmen, built sentence by sentence • 34 new words • 5 grammar points: ¿Qué hora es? (es la una / son las dos) · y / menos / cuarto / media · a la / a las · de la mañana or por la mañana · despertarse (e → ie) • Role-play: be Leo, then be Carmen HOW IT WORKS 1. Every new Spanish word appears on a card. Say it out loud three times, in the voice of the person speaking. Words you already know are shown in grey. 2. Long sentences are built step by step, so you see how Spanish puts them together. 3. Each sentence is repeated three times. Pause and say it until you can say it without looking. 4. After each new sentence, you review the whole conversation so far. 5. At the end you play each role in the conversation.
