Leviticus chapter 1 was the burnt offering, and chapter 2 was the grain offering. And chapter 3, which we have read today, is the peace offering. What is this word reconciliation? It is two parties who had turned their backs on each other being untied again and sitting down facing each other at one table. Then how did God and man come to turn their backs on each other? It is because of sin. We may think we have never hated God, but sin made us enemies of God. So the Bible speaks like this of the place where we were.
