If you know how to Double Crochet you can make a pumpkin. The trick to getting that pumpkin texture is working into back loops of stitches.
PATTERN:
Note: chain 3 does not count as stitch
Chain 19.
ROW 1: starting in 4th chain from hook work a Double Crochet into every chain. Chain 3, turn.
ROW 2: Double Crochet into back loop of all stitches. Chain 3, turn
ROWS 3-18: Double Crochet into back loop of all stitches, Chain 3 turn (do not chain 3 on last row)
Break off leaving a really long tail. Fold in half, aligning stitches on both ends. Chain 1 and slip stitch both ends together.
Turn inside out.
Weave tail through all the chain 3 spaces on one end. Pull tail to close.
Repeat the same on the other end. Stuff before closing.
Wrap tail around pumpkin to create defined sections.
Add stem.
